The audience will be immersed in a non-traditional concert, dedicated to revealing the flourishing musical life of the interwar Jewish population in Kaunas.
The event will start with an audio-visual concert, where you will hear music by composer Rūta Vitkauskaitė reflecting on Jewish folk, religious, klezmer, and professional music, performed by Trio Sonorité – Özlem Tercanli (clarinet), Daryl Giuliano (violoncello) and Jelena Makarova (piano). Music will be merged with video film and original artworks by Aimee Birnbaum. The historical side of events will be revealed through texts, selected by Dr. Kamilė Rupeikaitė.
The evening will end with a concert of Yiddish songs, related to interwar Kaunas, performed by Michael Birnbaum and Trio Sonorité.
The audience will be also invited to view an exhibition of paintings by Birnbaum, showing interwar Jewish musicians’ life.
