STORIES FOR LUNCH: Kaunas Vaižgantas Street: Footprints of Foreigners and Faith of Lithuanian Elite
Organizer: Sugihara House
Kaunas is more and more recognized for its interwar Modernism architecture, especially in the public, representative spaces. This excursion is one of the Kaunas interwar elite street formation examples. How did it match Kaunas’ representative, public, and private architecture? Who chooses Green Hill and Oak park haven for private life and creation? Why part of Vaižgantas street doorsteps presented a new life, but others led to death? These and other aspects of microhistory will be presented during the excursion to those who are not indifferent to Kaunas’ identity and memories.
