DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, THE OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION IS POSTPONED.
A NEW OPENING DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.
Organizer: Kaunas 2022
Place of the event: Vandžiogala Leisure Hall, Parko g. 6, Kaunas District
Mindaugas Lukošaitis created his exhibition of drawings by researching the town of Vandžiogala, its landscape, history and people. With his masterful pencil movements, the artist has created a diary of drawings of Vandžiogala. Based on the collected material, the artist complemented the authentic landscape with his own drawn stories. His aim is to collect traces of the history of the region scattered in the present, to extend the contours of the unique landscape with the lines of his drawings, to highlight its distinctive details. At the same time, it is the gaze of a seeker, seeking to reflect on the space of the place in his own way and to offer the viewer a personal code for “reading” the landscape.
During the presentation the artist will be interviewed by journalist Kotryna Lingienė.
Partner of the exhibition – Vandžiogala Leisure Hall.
The event will be held in Lithuanian.

About the artist
Mindaugas Lukošaitis (born in 1980 in Šiauliai) is a sculptor, draughtsman, and has been participating in exhibitions since 1997. He is perhaps most famous for his drawing cycles “Resistance” and “Jews”. Both cycles masterfully weave history and imagination.
The first cycle of one hundred drawings is devoted to the partisan movement in Lithuania. It is an imaginative reconstruction of possible situations, recreating moments of partisan struggles and everyday life.
The second cycle, like suspended film frames, reconstructs the history of the Lithuanian Holocaust – the looted houses, the murdered bodies, the emptied streets of Lithuanian towns. It is a documentary recreation of the everyday life of the tragedy, not hiding behind any metaphors.
The artist’s works have been acquired by Lithuanian and international museums.
