The place of the performance: Next to Linksmakalnis Eldership, Liepų g. 7, Kaunas District
On the last day of the festival – October 9 – rolling angels will return to their temporary home in Linksmakalnis, where they will live until autumn 2022. At 14:00 in Linksmakalnis you will see the contemporary circus performance “First Steps” where the kids will perform together with rolling angels.
The angels have already become a symbol of Linksmakalnis, Kaunas 2022 “Contemporary Neighborhood”. These guardian spirits offer hope in today’s challenging world. They help us to come to terms with the past and with ourselves, encourage openness to others, communion and love for our neighbours. The symbol of the angel invites us today to rethink the complex interrelationships in an increasingly confrontational society. These angels are a promise of unity and reconciliation. A reminder that we too can be true angels to one another.
The project involves: the children of Linksmakalnis, contemporary circus artists, director Džiugas Kunsmanas. The angels were created by sculptor Marit Benthe Norheim (Denmark).
