The unique tour, that would start at the oak grove in Ąžuolynas Park will take the guests to the time of World War II and deprivation in Kaunas. It will tell the story the women of Žaliakalnis and Kaunas inventively used the product of times of deprivation and shortages – oak acorns, turning them into… coffee. The narrative will be presented in a non-traditional form – the would be a stop in the 1st Žaliakalnis, where the roasted acorns will be grounded, and coffee will be brewed. By the memorial museum of famous Lithuanian composer and opera artist, Petrauskas memoirs about the coffee and frugal coffee with chicory in interwar Kaunas will be read. At the end of the tour, we all shall reach the place in the park where the social project “Table Under the Open Sky in Mažasis Ąžuolynas” sponsored by the Kaunas 2022 Community Program “Fluxus Labas!” is implemented. That is the place and time, where we will all taste acorn coffee according to the authentic recipe from the Kaunas of lowly 40s!
